The Tarot of the Old Path was developed by two leaders within the Wiccan tradition, with contributions from some of the most articulate voices in that movement. The deck approaches what practitioners call the Old Path, the Old Religion, or the Craft through the lens of tarot, treating the 78 cards as a modern expression of a much older female-centered wisdom tradition. Sylvia Gainsford brought particular care to the botanical imagery throughout the deck, drawing on her substantial knowledge of flowers and their symbolic meanings.
Despite its specific spiritual origins, the deck's vibrant, clear imagery has attracted readers well beyond the Wiccan community. It follows a modified Rider-Waite-Smith structure and offers both accessibility and depth.
