Tarot of H’Arts

Created by Isabel Hayes

The Tarot of H'Arts is built around a joyful premise: what if every card spoke in the language of the performing and creative arts? Dance, music, theater, cinema, and storytelling each have a place in this deck, and together they transform the familiar Rider-Waite-Smith framework into something charged with color and cultural energy. The 79 cards include a unique additional Lovers card, and the traditional suits have been reimagined as artistic instruments, from paintbrushes to piano keys.

Isabel Hayes painted each card by hand, working in acrylics and oils on canvas and wooden panels. Her bold, intuitive style gives the figures in the deck a compelling presence, their faces both specific and mysterious. The full-color illustrated guidebook runs to 288 pages and covers the meaning of each card in generous detail.

About the Creator

Isabel Hayes was born in Guatemala City, raised in Madrid and Los Angeles, and now lives in San Francisco. Mostly self-taught as a painter and illustrator, she works in acrylic and oil on canvas and wood panels. Her compositions emerge from imagination rather than reference, and the intense colors in her work reflect the three countries she calls home. Her art has been selected for juried exhibitions in New York and London. Tarot of H'Arts is her first full tarot project; she was previously a contributing artist to the Pride Tarot in 2020.
