Tarot del Toro: Tarot Deck and Guidebook
This deck was built around the fantastical world of filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, and the result is dark, strange, and genuinely playful all at once. The Magician card appears to be del Toro himself. Like the Tarot de Marseille, the Minor Arcana are pips rather than illustrated scenes, keeping the focus on the trump cards and their extraordinary visual inventions. The matte-finish cards feel substantial in hand.
About the Creators
Guillermo del Toro is the Academy Award-winning director of The Shape of Water, Pans Labyrinth, Pacific Rim, and Crimson Peak, and the author of international bestselling novels. Tomas Hijo is a Spanish illustrator and professor of illustration at the University of Salamanca who has illustrated over seventy books and written ten of them. His work, rooted in printmaking, belongs to private collections worldwide including those of del Toro and Mike Mignola, and he received the Tolkien Society Best Artwork Award in 2015.
