Vergnano Tarot 1830

Vergnano Tarot 1830

Created around 1830, the Vergnano Tarot represents one of the high points of Piedmontese tarot craftsmanship, a deck that sits within the broader Tarot de Marseille tradition while expressing a distinctly regional character. The differences are worth noticing: the Fool in baggy pants chasing a butterfly, the Magician's table set with a shoemaker's tools, a Devil with an animal face rising from the abdomen, the Ace of Cups as a vase of flowers and fruit, and knights dressed in Hussar and warrior garb that feels specific to a particular cultural moment.

This faithful limited edition reproduction, capped at 500 copies and produced under the direction of Italian historian Giordano Berti, includes 78 cards, an 18-page historical booklet, and an 8-page guide to card meanings. The packaging is hand-crafted by local Italian artisans, covered in marbled paper and lined with red velvet, available in either a book-shaped box or a two-piece telescopic box. It is a deck for collectors and historians who want to hold something that genuinely carries the weight of its era.
