Scottish artist Anita Inverarity built this deck on the Waite-Smith framework but filled it with stories from folklore and mythology gathered from around the world. Each card is inhabited by characters accompanied by animal and crystal companions that carry their own symbolic weight within the reading. The result is a deck that feels both rooted in traditional tarot structure and genuinely expansive in its cultural reach.
Inverarity's distinctive style has echoes of Art Nouveau and folkloric illustration, with intricate ink drawings populated by etheric figures in moonlit gardens, surrounded by crystals and natural creatures. The 244-page illustrated guidebook explores the symbolism across all 78 painted-edge cards in depth, making this a solid choice for both reading and study.
Anita Inverarity is a Scottish artist born in Aberdeen and now living in rural Banffshire, where she maintains a home gallery and studio. She returned to art full-time in her early forties after a period of illness and has since exhibited her work in Scotland's national galleries and museums, including Aberdeen Art Gallery and the Moray Art Centre. Her work has also appeared on album covers and in various licensed projects. Her style combines folkloric and Art Nouveau aesthetics with a deep interest in fairy stories, mythology, and earth magic.
