Tazama African American Tarot Deck. Modern Black Tarot Cards

The Tazama African American Tarot Deck takes a striking and distinctive approach to representation: each of the 78 cards is built around a vintage portrait of a real historical figure from the African continent and the African diaspora in the Americas and the Caribbean. Empresses from Haiti, Masai warriors, Dahomey royalty, and many others appear across the cards, making each draw a small encounter with history.

The collage artwork was created by a female artist from Nairobi, Kenya, and the deck is published by a Black-owned company committed to increasing visual representation of BIPOC communities in the tarot world. The cards include gold foil details and gold edges, and come with a hardcover booklet covering card meanings, reversed meanings, affirmations, and three spread examples.
