Tarot of the Sorceress

Tarot of the Sorceress

The Tarot of the Sorceress draws its structure from the Wheel of the Year, the seasonal cycle observed in Wiccan and pagan practice. The 78 cards are organized around the eight Sabbaths that mark the year's turning points, with the 22 Major Arcana representing the allegories of those seasonal festivals and the 56 Minor Arcana built on the four elemental suits. The deck is rooted in Tarot de Marseille but filtered through a pagan sensibility that gives it a very different feeling from traditional Marseille decks.

The artwork is done in black and white with metallic highlights, which suits the subject matter: a deck concerned with the phases of the moon, the properties of plants and crystals, and the implements of magical practice. A companion book provides sample readings and card-by-card interpretations for both the pagan practitioner and the tarot reader approaching this tradition from outside it.
