German graphic designer Catrin Welz-Stein has built a following for her distinctive digital collage work, and this deck channels that aesthetic into a complete tarot system. The 83 cards draw on her signature approach of layering vintage photographs and archival illustrations into something dreamy and contemporary at once. The deck takes a notably inclusive approach to the court cards by including five additional cards that offer female versions of the four Kings and the Emperor, allowing readers to choose which versions to include in their practice.
The gilded edges and full-color 96-page guidebook round out a set that feels both substantial and thoughtfully assembled. The deck has a distinctively feminine perspective woven through it without being exclusive, and the imagery speaks across a wide range of subjects and moods.
