Jennifer Cooper Steidley made a genuinely original structural choice in the Tarot Disassembled: she took the familiar symbols from the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition and pulled them free from their original scenes, rearranging them into bold, patterned compositions on each card. The effect is to liberate the individual symbols from their fixed contexts, allowing readers to encounter them freshly and construct their own meanings without the guide of a narrative scene. The deck comes with a 152-page guidebook.
