Lynyrd-Jym Narciso took several variants of the traditional Marseille style as his starting point and produced something genuinely his own in the Tarot de Maria Celia. The card illustrations use a fresh pastel palette with faux-vintage accents, and all card titles follow the European tradition of being presented in French. As a Marseille-style deck, the pip cards are not illustrated with scenes but with carefully arranged suit symbols, which gives readers more latitude for intuitive interpretation. This pocket-sized 80-card edition in a tin comes with a 56-page instruction booklet.
Lynyrd-Jym Narciso is an artist, illustrator, and graphic designer based in the Philippines who has been creating tarot decks for over a decade. His previous published deck, the Vanessa Tarot, appeared with U.S. Games Systems. His work is shaped by a fascination with how artistic styles and periods differ from one another, which accounts for the varied visual approaches across his different decks. His illustrations have also appeared in books on Philippine folklore and culture.
