Jean-Pierre Payen created this Tarot de Marseille in Avignon, France in 1713. It is classified as a Type 1 deck, identifiable by the faces decorating the Devil card and the numeral 4 positioned in front of the Emperor head. The facsimile was made possible through the combined resources of three institutions: the Swiss Game Museum in La Tour-de-Peilz, the Musee de la Carte a Jouer in France, and the Beinecke Library at Yale University. Limited to 1,500 copies.
