This 81-card deck is one of the first tarot decks to bring Caribbean and Latin American symbolism into the structure of the tradition, with vivid, colorful artwork that draws from religious practices, food cultures, local animal species, natural and historical landmarks, and the music and art of the islands and surrounding countries. The modifications to the standard Rider-Waite-Smith system are specific and meaningful: Spanish fans replace Swords, the Ace of Cups features La Virgen de la Providencia looking over Puerto Rico, and a Flamenco dancer in motion appears in the Dame of Pentacles. About the Creators
Leticia Ferrer-Rivera is a tarotist, psychic, dance teacher, and performer of Latin and Oriental dances who comes from a long lineage of witches and mediums on both sides of her family. She is also certified in cardio healing. Laura Bello is an artist, illustrator, and theater scenographer from Montevideo, Uruguay, who works with Las del Fondo, a collective that creates murals around the city. Secrets of Paradise Tarot is her first tarot deck.
