This limited edition presents the 1739 Tarot de Marseille produced in Dijon by Jean-Baptiste Madenie, son of Pierre Madenie whose 1709 deck stands as one of the foundational references in the Marseille tradition. The younger Madenie brought a more expressive engraving style to the work, with a softer and more fluid visual character that preserves details already worn away in earlier woodblocks. The court cards are especially notable for their balance and clarity. Historians classify this as an early Type II Tarot de Marseille, and it played a meaningful role in shaping later Marseille editions, including those by Claude Burdel in 1751. Subtle heraldic elements reflect the Burgundian origins of the deck and the regional world in which it was made. Reconstructed by Yves Reynaud and Valentin Reynaud from multiple surviving originals, this edition is limited to 500 copies.
