James R. Eads was born in 1989 in Los Angeles and spent his childhood making art before studying printmaking, painting, and graphic design at a liberal arts college in New York. After college he returned to Los Angeles and began designing gig posters for major acts including Phish, Dave Matthews, and the Foo Fighters, and for events like Bonnaroo and Outside Lands. In 2013 he created his first tarot deck, which opened a new path for him, and the following year he opened Prisma Visions. In 2016 he became an early pioneer of painting in virtual reality using Tiltbrush, working directly with Google and VR Scout. In 2021 he co-founded Eads Bros. with his brother Sean, releasing the Pocket Visions tarot app. His work maintains a post-impressionistic, dreamlike quality that explores the relationship between humans and the natural world.
