Albano-Waite Tarot Deck

Albano-Waite Tarot Deck

If you've ever wished the classic Rider-Waite-Smith artwork had a bit more punch, the Albano-Waite is the deck for you. In 1968, artist Frankie Albano took Pamela Colman Smith's original line drawings and saturated them with vivid, electric color. Deep purples, bright greens, and bold oranges transform familiar scenes into something that feels alive in a completely new way. The deck went out of print shortly after its initial release, but demand from collectors led U.S. Games Systems to reissue it in 1991, and it has been a favorite ever since.

One of the most practical touches is the color-coded backgrounds on the Minor Arcana. Cups cards feature a soft blue-green, Wands get a warm orange, Pentacles appear against lime green, and Swords sit on yellow. These color cues make it easier to pick up on details and suit patterns during a reading that you might otherwise overlook.

The Albano-Waite has a distinctly retro, almost psychedelic energy that sets it apart from other RWS editions. If you love bold color and appreciate a deck with real personality, this one delivers.
